The test system consisted of two sets of a remote data monitoring system, fifteen strain gauges, ten vibrating wire sensors, and four dial indicators.
Monitoring points were selected on two steel structural specimens with different structural configurations. Welded strain gauges and vibrating wire strain sensors were installed at the designated monitoring locations.
After casting the new concrete containing expansive admixtures, deformation caused by concrete expansion acting on the two steel structures was continuously monitored. The collected data were analyzed and compared to evaluate the expansion performance of the concrete expansive admixture and its effects on different steel structural forms.
